How to get games to auto-update?
I have all of my games set to auto-update (Properties -> Updates -> Automatic Updates -> "Always keep this game up to date"), but every time I open Steam and there's an update to one of my games, it shows "Game X - Update Pending" and I have to manually initiate the install and update by selecting the game and updating it.

I remember years ago, the games would just start updating (you know, like automatically updating) whenever you opened Steam. Now it seems to be manual every time. Is there another setting I'm missing?

Thanks for any help you guys can provide!

I don't think so, but how would I check?

I checked, and they are *not* restricted to update during a specified time frame.

There is no setting you can set for scheduled updates that games were put on.

Yes there is, unless I'm misunderstanding you. Steam -> Settings -> Downloads -> Download Restrictions

2 separate things.

That is for you to set scheduled download times.

The update the game dev pushed out has set their own scheduled download for a later time.

I'm not sure I understand this part...

You're saying that the dev has a specific download time set on the update, and I can manually update before that time, but if I don't, when the dev specified time is reached, it will automatically download the update when I start Steam without me having to start the download manually?

Correct.

So is there no way to force Steam to automatically download any pending updates when Steam is started, even if it is before the "dev specified" time?

you do not need to understand this part, such a function does not exist.
