What are gems and booster packs
Absolutely cannot find any desription of what a booster pack is. Nothing in steam help. Why would I want to get gems, in order to turn them into booster packs, when there's no freaking info on what good is does me?

After you got all trading card drops for a certain game you can spend gems to buy a booster pack for that game. The pack contains 3 random cards from the game.
You can buy one booster pack a day for a certain game.

-- a booster pack, which is a set of 3 trading cards that may include both basic and foil cards.

receiving all free drops is only needed for the eligability for receiving a free booster drop for that game.
you can craft the booster for it as soon as you own the game on the account, it is not required to receive all free drops first to do so.

you can buy as many booster packs as you want from the community market, just the crafting of it via gems is limited to once every 24 hours per game.

Having said that, converting items into gems and then using them to craft booster packs is usually a bit of a waste. As a rule, it's far more cost effective to pack 1000 gems into a sack, sell the sack on the market and use the proceeds to buy the booster packs or individual cards that you're after.

The real question is, can I convert all my crap to gems and then sell the "booster packs"...

Answer: Yes, but after you convert it all into cards, the 3 cards you get from several dollars' worth of inventory items are only worth a few cents lol.

"Badges are tied to user accounts and are shown on users' profiles. Crafting game badges earns the user marketable items like emoticons, profile backgrounds, and coupons. Badges can be leveled up by collecting the set again and re-crafting the badge thus earning more items."

Long story short, worthless

Edit: Although it does seem that I am able to sell my cards without the restrictions there are for inventory items.

Turning cards into gems reduces the amount of them on the market, kinda, tunring gem into boosters = more cards, the cards and gems is simply one more method of getting more cash from it user base. Steam makes money on every transaction of these virtual goods.. Quite the easy scheme to establish for a steady money flow. With no work or effort hahhaha

I personaly think badges and card are a big joke, I do sell my doubles sometimes and use the Cents from that to flesh out the sets. I only do this once or twice a year if that.
