Hotas X Key Mapping
Can anyone please help me out. I just want to map the keys to the joystick in Steam, so I can play the flight sim games I have purchased. It is not a gameplay or hardware issue, it is a steam issue with the mapping.

Open big picture mode, go to your game, manage and do your edits this will be for your specific game, instead of overall for all games.

when i go to big picture mode, it does not see my flightstick as a device. it says no devices are connected. But all drivers up to date, and can see the device in control panel, and calibrated, and working properly, but steam does not see it in big picture.

your joystick is probably not supported Steam controller api.

and in general, games that make sense to play with such control methods usually have native support for them, so you do not even need to configure anything in Steam

my joystick is a thrustmaster hotas x, both il2 and ace combat 7 support the hardware, so although i thank you for your comments, i dont get it.

i will add, that ace combat 7 already has the keys mapped out, but when i go to play the game, steam does not support the joystick. it is not the software or the hardware that is the issue, it is Steam.

Yea, if steam can't detect / register it then it not able to do anything for it. Now if the game detect / register the controller that be good, and only need to test out to see if it work, and map out controls if you need in game.

can i contact steam directly for assistance ? I have tried to map out the controls for hours over days and days. The mapping out wont allow me to proceed unless all keys have a corresponding value, however, my hotas x does not have enough buttons to satisfy the mapping out, so i cannot proceed.
Steam seems to think that the Hotas x is a hand held controller, and not a joystick.
None of the online solutions, nor assistance you guys are offering are working. It is just unfortunate that I have to play these PURCHASED games through Steam, when all get is issues, and cannot get Help directly from Steam.
I really do appreciate you guys trying to help me, but this is super frustrating.

rightclick the game you wanna play -> properties -> Steam input per game -> FORCED OFF.

and stop bothering with Steams remapping if the games do that already natively.

im right clicking, selecting properties, and that is as far as i get. I do not see an option reading anything like the rest of your comment, and no option for the FORCED OFF.
