Steam Missing File file privileges 228980.acf

When I go and try opening a game (this problem does not affect all of my games) It will come up with an error that would say " An error occurred while updating (Name of Game) (missing file privileges) : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\appmanifest_228980.acf

I've tried things like restarting my pc, Clearing my downloads, or repairing my library files, changing my download region, verifying my files, running steam as an administrator, re installing steam again, and updating my drivers. But nothing has worked.

228980 is steamworks common redist...

did you uninstall them manually to get rid of them in your library?

I uninstalled them by going in the steam file in Program Files (x86) and uninstalling all files except for the steam launcher and steamapps

goto tool section and add it again "Steamworks Common Redistributables"

change this at click at Games leftside under search to get tool section up.

exit steam.

right click link or steam.exe, run as administator

This worked for me: (Windows)

1. Search for the file name in File Explorer
2. Cut the file a paste somewhere safe (Better to be safe than sorry)
3. Go to Steam > Settings > Downloads > Clear Download Cache
4. Open Steam, login and try the game again.

This worked for me and fixed at least one other game that wasn't working with the same cited reason. I only had to do through step 2 (I had recently done 3 so that may have helped) but now everything's working. Fantastic!

I had this issues just now, the problem was simple : my ssd was full, after some cleaning the game worked

Просто вырежьте файл из папки, где он находится steam/steamapps/this file. И попробуйте Установить обновление
