Saved screenshot by right-clicking. Saved as weird, empty(?) file? Help?
I am very confused and very concerned. Also, I'm on a laptop using WIndows 10.

After taking some screenshots and exiting a game, the screenshots appeared in the "Post Game Summary" bar, something I've never seen before. I wanted to save one of the screenshots, so I opened it up in this bar, then right clicked on it, and I got a single option reading "Save screenshot as..." I don't know how to embed images here, so I linked it on Discord:

The file saved to Documents. But I can't find it anywhere except in Quick Access. Strangely, the file has two, blue, clockwise spinning arrows next to it. Checking the properties (see below image), the file has a size of 0, and the file type is listed as simply "File."

When I click "OK" on the Properties screen, I get a message saying "Error Applying Attributes: An error occurred applying attributes to the file: (file destination) The system cannot find the file specified."

I'm kind of paranoid about these things, so I scanned the file with Windows Defender, and it says it's safe.

So basically: What's the meaning of all this? Why did this file save like that? Is it going to have bad effects on my computer? Can I delete it? And how? I'd like to delete it if I can.

the function you are trying to use is not properly implemented. it is not issue you can fix on your end or even any issue on your end. Valve f'd this up.

for the meantime you either setup to save an uncompressed copy of a screenshot in a folder of your choice (Steam settings -> in-game) ... sometimes does not work, so..

or you open the normal screenshot manager (view -> screenshot) select the screenshot and show on disk, then you can manually copy the file where you want.

Is it possible that your Save Ended up only partially getting Saved?

Or that your Save somehow got Protected, or possibly the Save Folder
got Protected somehow?

I get the feeling somehow something went wrong with the save,
& it would not allow you to save, which can happen...

Do you have by any chance Windows Defender with Ransomeware Enabled?

That effects your Cloud Saves, by the way, & I would more then likely have
it Disabled... It will lock them up so you can't Save things like this...

All f12 screenshots are saved in your userdata folders.

Steam / userdata / your number / 760 / remote / game ID numbers / folder with screenshots and thumbnails. You don't have to do anything more than take them in game. They're already saved.

I think I know what happened...

How did you save your ScreenShots?

Did you save them, via STEAM Overlay? (STEAM UserData Folder)

Did you save them from the Game themselves?(Windows Documents / Cloud Save Prob)

Windows ScreenShot? Or X-Box Live ScreenShot?

Or possibly AMD ReLive, or NVidea ShadowPlay

Or some other means? Possibly the Prnt Screen?

Or how about your Snap Tool from Windows Action Center?

How were they saved?

Hi did you just start the new library UI?
"After taking some screenshots and exiting a game, the screenshots appeared in the "Post Game Summary" bar, something I've never seen before.<< Post Game Summary has been there since the new UI was released, it is just that, every time we play a game and take a few screenshots all new screenshots will appear there, sorry you havent seen it before..
We get the same with achievements.
These images cant be saved from this Summary just opened to look at. What you did by right clicking it to save is using windows to save as. Its was quite logical.
You can delete it.

The game you just played highlight it then look over to the right scroll down a little see screenshots click on manage screenshots.
opens the screenshot uploader also at the top open VIEW >screenshots.
I happened to have an artwork to illustrate.

I already have Ransomware disabled.

I took the screenshots using the screenshot key in-game (the one that is set to F12 on default, but I changed it to F7.)

Thanks for your explanation. However, I forgot to mention that I can't delete it normally. When I find the file in Quick Access in File Explorer, and I click and press Delete, nothing happens. When I right click it, there is no option to Delete it.

Another screenshot, so you can see the right click menu: https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/250060874398695426/663872934481494026/Annotation_2020-01-06_173328aaa.png

Thanks. That's good to know. I guess all I can do is just leave that blank file alone on Quick Access.
