Can't sign into google/youtube account on steam overlay.
Google has introduced this new nonsense which prevents users from signing into google accounts via the overlay browser as it is "not verified" and is a "less secure app". There is an option in your google account to allow sign in through less secure apps but even with that enabled, sign in is still prevented via the steam browser. Anyone having this problem too/can help?

it is irrelevant where you reside, for nearly ALL steam issues.

dunno why this particular thread got bigger than the one that had the explanation in it.
especially because the currently on-going issue has nothing to do with the opening post. what is happening now is more a follow up issue of Valve not reacting to Google changes.

so:

1. YOU CAN NOT FIX IT.
2. only Valve can fix this and they already know about it.
2.1. Google disabled Steam from their auth system.
2.2. Steam has to get validated by Google to use the system, and they probably have to change the method how to use the system.

3. your solution is to wait.

3.1. exception: you can link yt accounts that were linked before Steam got disabled by Google.
there is more to this but that gets to deep. if it doesn't work then it doesn't work even if you are 100% sure you used an account before.

Google didn't disable specifically Steam from their auth system, they for security reasons blocked any sign-ins from apps using Chromium Embedded Framework because of a potential "man in the middle" phishing scenario.

And the solution is like I already told in an earlier post to simply use browser-based OAuth authentication instead. As an example Discord does that since ever for linking the various accounts and therefore wasn't affected by this issue.

Therefore Steam doesn't need to be validated, but simply will need to use browser-based OAuth in the future. And because CEF apps are now completely excluded from signing in, for Steam this now probably means opening an external non-CEF browser window where the user is already signed in or can sign in just like Discord does.

And already linked YT accounts probably only work as long as the authentication tokens are still valid and when they expire is probably pretty random.

But until that was changed, visiting https://steamcommunity.com/ in a normal Browser and linking the YT account there instead of in the Steam client should be fine.

Nope, we all tried normal Browsers, same problem.

Even Safari on iOS too. Likely mobile versions of Chrome as well

I'm having the exact same issue with the message"This app has not been verified yet by Google in order to use Google Sign In." Anyone have a solution?

Wait for Valve to fix it. That’s the solution.

That's probably because Steam now has multiple issues:

1. Sign-ins from apps using Chromium Embedded Framework are blocked as of June 2019
2. Steam has been classified as an "Unconfirmed Developer" as of February 2020
3. Steamcommunity.com has been classified as "potential risk app or service" as of 09.02.2020

So they now not only have to switch to browser-based OAuth authentication, but also have their developer information reverified by Google and submit a verification request for the then new unverified app/service to remove the warnings and restrictions.

Well, the longer you procrastinate on such security issues, the more complicated it gets. I mean the whole thing was announced at the beginning of last year, so there was plenty of time to react in time and to prevent further difficulties.

Agree.

Now Steam has lots of issues but seems they doesn't care about not only this one.

The Steam Community site in of itself needs an overhaul similar to our libraries. I shouldn't have to click through multiple pages to get to a game's community page, or view my achievements, badge progress, etc. Especially on mobile.

Steam should want to email to reply to its customer once this 'auto update' has been applied, as this dude has went out of his way to email.

Simple, if steam cannot get their act together and treat their customers right by the end of march, ill just get me and my friends to leave steam, give steam a ton of bad rep and use another service. Issue solved. Procastination and arrogance loses customers

Where is the steam admin responding on this very important thread? Nowhere

*tumbleweed*
Leaving? Your only option is just to choose bad, or awful.
