It's a monster hunter key from newegg which needs to go through nvidia. Can't do through steam client :( I tried.
There have been too many login failures from your network in a short time period. Please wait and try again later.
I can only login through the client itself.
Ah, you mean a key that you got as a free gift for buying a new graphics card? Weird, I thought you had to redeem those through the GeForce Experience app now. But the redemption instructions specifically say to do it through a normal web browser?
Correct! the instructions are:
1. To begin the process to redeem your award, please click: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/account/redeem
2. Please sign in to access the redemption system.
3. Paste your coupon code from your qualifying bundle purchase into the "ENTER YOUR PROMO CODE" box. Characters are case sensitive.
4. Enter the validation text into the "ENTER THE TEXT" box and click "REDEEM".
5. In the Game Redeem Page, click on the Steam button to sign-in to your Steam account page.
6. Enter your Steam username and password on the Steam account page.
7. Click "ALLOW" to redeem and activate the game on your account.
8. Click "REDEEM" to add game to your Steam account.
9. Success! You will be notified that the game has been added to your account.
10. Congratulations! Launch Steam to download your game!
steam client -> add a game (bottom left) -> activate a product.
o.O edit
that is 3rd party site activation, then this wont help much, then you never get to see a Steam key that you could activate yourself ... and i thought Valve disabled that since the humble debacle.
you have to change your IP then, power cycle your modem/router will mostly do that.
I've done this. When I paste the code into steam it says it's invalid. I've pasted correctly :P
Yeah, that's not how it works now... not for the latest card models at least. You should contact NVidia for clarification on how you're supposed to redeem that code - it won't get you any closer to being able to log in through a browser but at least you'll get your stuff.
this is a common feature in most sites and network enviornments, it is meant to prevent brute force logins and thus protect your account.. you NEVER keep trying to guess a password if you can't remember, because it just makes you look like a brute force attempt, if you can't remember your password in 1-2 attempts go straight to the reset option (do not pass go, do not collect $200)
Noted.
Oh, what the... Thats interesting. Thank you!
