Old School Half-Life CD-Key

Hi !

I found my old Half-Life generation pack CDs when i was cleaning my attic. I would like to add the original Half-Life to one of my accounts. Is it still possible? The CD-keys are from the 90's and steam doesn't regonize it. The cd-keys form is as follows: 1234-12345-1234

They can still be used to play without Steam.

Don't toss them. Some people will pay for them.

Try entering the CD key under "Activate a Product on Steam."

On the client, to bottom left you see Add a game, click on that.

If key doesn't work at all, then that might not be the key, for Steam.

You can always wait until Steam sale, and get the half life for like $2, or get the collection for bit more.

That's actually wrong. The Half-Life I have on this account is from the back of my old Sierra-published jewel case.

I get an invalid key error when i try to activate the game. I have 3 cd-keys for Opposing Force, Half-Life and Counter Strike and non of them are valid. How did you manage to activate your Half-Life. I remember that i was playing CS 1.3 retail before steam was a thing

Remember, this was over a decade (~16 years) ago. I suppose I've managed to do that simply because the HL key was a valid Steam key back then and now it isn't.

Remember, this was over a decade (~16 years) ago. I suppose I've managed to do that simply because the HL key was a valid Steam key back then and now it isn't.

Yeah that makes sense. Well maybe i don't throw them away yet and i will try to find another way to activate these badboys

You can't activate them on Steam.

You can sell them to collectors though.

European region of Half-Life Sierra key worked here back in 2003. Still have that boxed copy. That was 1234-12345-1234 format.

Maybe OP had that key used in different account?
Steam support could add that game manually, if it's never used on Steam.

They stopped working, they used to but they don't anymore.
