A verification code was sent to @*.*
When I try to reset my password on my older account by entering the original email address it has always been tied to it shows me this:

"An error occurred trying to handle that request. Please give us a few minutes and try again."

"A verification code was sent to @*.*
Enter the account verification code you received"

That isn't even a real email address so what am I supposed to do? The account doesn't seem to be locked and I have not received any email from steam support saying that it has been.

Now I've tried contacting steam support three times and each time they give the same response and ask for a physical CD-Key of a Half-Life disk I activated more than 14 years ago. Their bots or "support team" won't accept any other key, payment method or any other type of proof for it which is a real shame.

I have invested a lot of money and time into that account. Anyone else been in the same boat?

the email is never fully revealed and this message is an indicator that the account was deleted, which also means there was no paid value on it, or in the meantime someone else deleted it by request and providing proof of ownership, or it was discovered that the account transfered, which is against ssa and it was terminated.

the other possibility is that is message is simply false for whatever reason.

write ONE ticket.

and provide as much proof of ownership possible with methods menthoned in that support article.

if you had invested a lot of money on that account that you should have tons of transaction receipts from your used payment/banking providers.

and there are no bots.

yeah, I do have a ton of transaction receipts from that account and no, 100+ lines of those weren't enough. all they want is the physical half-life disk/key from 15 years ago. they just reject any other proof I throw at them...

The oldest proof is always what they ask for.
