Trading items/gifts for nothing in return in the first trade and expecting to get an item or gift in a later trade. There is no reason to not trade everything in one trade. You may add unlimited items/gifts to a single trade. A common example of this is using a middleman to facilitate a one sided trade.
Middleman trades - If you are performing a trade that sits within Steam's trading guidelines, there is no need for a middleman. Any time you choose to trust any other user with one of your items, you are allowing them the opportunity to scam you.
Middlemen are always scams. If he wants to use paypal he can use paypal to add funds to his steam wallet and buy it off of the market.
That is what I thought first when the trader introduced me to a middleman HE chose and for all I know it could be himself or that middleman could just take the item for himself. Also that trade had a weird excuse for not using the market as he said "I dont want to use the market as it will take 7 days for me to buy it". I asked him if he was in a hurry and I could hold of the item for him, but he ignored the question.
I just reported both accounts for potential scam attempt and deleted them.
Yea, good job on being attentive and not getting scammed. Thanks for the details on what was going on. Pass the word on to any of your friends if you get the chance. The best way to combat scammers is education within the community.
That support page the good Snapjak linked above is one of the best and most helpful ones out there, IMO. So pass that on as well, if you get the chance.
