50 to 600 KB/s Download Despite Good Internet
Hi,

no matter what I do (restart Steam, restart PC, update Steam) the maximum download speed is around 600 KB/s. My internet is absolutely fine, several speedtests showed me that it's a stable 40 to 48 Mbit/s connection (which it's supposed to be), I've also tried an Origin download which confirmed that (5.6 MB/s average). It's also not limited in Steam. Does anyone have any ideas?

Just check steam settings and download limiter.

It's not limited though, I've checked the settings and it's set to no limit.

You're not alone buddy.
Have the same issue with a 500K Connection from Vodafone Germany. :steamsad:

Change your Download Server to France/Switzerland. Depends on which is closer to you.

the distance is only relevant when you use a hamsterwheel driven internet connection and you can watch the bytes moving in your cables.

if you actually have a bit beef on your connection, for Steam doing the opposite helps more ... you move away from your location with the download, that circumvents local node congestion. download from the other side of the planet. the only thing that is slower is the ramp up of the download.

Same issue here. 200K connection via Vodafone Germany, and for a week I can not get past 20k speeds, no matter which Download server I chose.

Hi guys,

I've uninstalled Steam now and reinstalled it with a fresh installer from the Steam site and it seems like that might've fixed it for me, downloading at up to 6 MB/s (Telekom Germany) again. It's looking good so far and I'll write again later when I'm sure.
