Playtime increased by 100 hours in 1 hour
I was playing Borderlands (around 1 hour today and 30 hours total), but my total hours somehow jumped to 154 hours :)

Now I have almost 145 hours in past 2 weeks (over 10 hours per day) which is quite impossible because of my studies in University.

Is it possible to get this fixed ? I know it's a small problem, but still a problem

nope. that is purely reported playtime (process runtime). it is accurate for what it represents. if your Steam client pushes playtime to the Steam server, that is always accurate. you can have less playtime due to failures in sending those reports, but you can not have more.

observation (times in utc):
Unlocked 6 Nov @ 7:02pm It's so realistic! Collected 5 3D glasses Unlocked 1 Nov @ 4:12pm Muerte la robo-lución Defeated the Interplanetary Ninja Assassin Claptrap
that is about 121 hours

considering some time played after and before the achievements this could simply mean the game ran the whole time between those achievements.

i assume you did not check your Steam playing status in the meantime.
did you use the computer in the meantime?
do you use any hibernation/sleepmode of windows and not shutdown?

Steam records playtime on the process running, not if you are actually playing.
the game could improperly exit and leave the process running. combined with any hibernation/sleepmode windows provides, Steam can only assume that this process did run the entire time, resulting is such playtime jumps on the next playtime report you send to the Steam servers.

Valve will not change the hours played.

Probably someone else has access to your account and has been playing when you haven't been. Might want to start by changing your Steam password along with the password for whatever email account connected to your Steam account (and make sure they are different passwords).

Checked email history, devices used - nothing out of the ordinary. Changed my Steam password just in case.

wuddih answer is more plausible, because before starting Borderlands Steam still showed 30 hours total. If someone was using my account, I would have seen gradual increase in hours.

Still, thanks for reply :)

- Yes I did.

Do I use any hibernation/sleepmode of windows and not shutdown?
- Yes, I use Sleep mode (just close my laptop) and laptop hasn't been restarted (shut down) in atleast a week.

It is the most likely scenario (as you mentioned) that some process was running in the backround and I just didn't noticed my Steam playing status.

This is small annoyance, because I like to keep track of how much time I spend gaming, but in 2 weeks my playing time for 2 weeks should be back to normal.

Anyway, thank you for reply :)
