Fanatical Keys questions.
I was planning to get a copy of COD MW2 because I found it on sale on the website Fanatical. I had been refered to this by an article which meant it was probably reliable and didn't get keys through scamming. However, it didn't say it was compatible with Windows, but said it was compatible with steam, which in turn said it was compatible with Windows. I was wondering if anyone could clear the fog here, and see if it would work on my windows computer. Thanks

Steam is a Windows client/platform that also attributes to Linux and MacOS games as well.

As long as it runs ok on your system provided you meet the necessary requirements, it should not be a problem.

Yes, so in theory if i get the game on Steam it should work on Windows. However the site does not mark it as windows compatile.

compatible*
If it is what it says, is a Steam key, it will work.
However, on other games, it clearly marks it as windows compatible.

Well despite how some websites don't really go as far as including a Windows description none other than a Steam description, it would be a interpretation of the definition of Windows and it is common nowadays.

Alright, thanks

No worries. :)
And the Steam store page definitely indicates it as a requirement

https://store.steampowered.com/app/10180/Call_of_Duty_Modern_Warfare_2/
that game has osx dev comp and some dlcs also have special osx subs ...

the publisher also sells a seperate mac version of mw2 (in retail)

cod is also the only game on Steam that also sells a seperate mac version of BO on Steam itself. no one else does this.

i would be careful *to who you listen to*. fanatical is not good with refunds and their store page clearly just advertises mac, not windows.

Fanatical wouldn't commonly sell MacOS keys though.

If they did not specifically state which OS it was or misguided their customers in any circumstances, it would be their fault and would have to offer a refund.
On the site, it marks it as a Mac copy. However, it also said it was a Steam key. On steam, the keys are compatible with Windows. So I'm a bit confused if it would work on my windows computer. The store also has some games that are clearly marked windows compatible.
I believe you would actually get both versions from a Steam key...
If that were true, the store would have marked it as Windows compatible, or not sell as a steam key. So thats where I'm confused
After a little digging, if this is what you are referring to,
https://www.fanatical.com/en/game/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-2

There is a description at the bottom under Systems that specifies that it is Mac but as far as i'm aware, anything that is supposedly developed in partnership with Aspyr would obviously be a Windows key as well.

So either way, you are taking a risk and by means of saying this, i'm not suggesting it is a bad one.
