I remember that the Steam Client is actually supporting the 2FA Protection since when I added my YouTube Channel I indeed where asked at some point to authorized the Channel through the 2FA Code I get sent to my Mobile Device.
It just seems that at the current moment the Valve Server is screwing up the API Handshake between the YouTube Server and YouTube responding in the only way it does know is sending an Link to the API Documentation so the Developer back at Steam at least get a hint where the Error might be located.
TLTR:
The Steam Client does support the 2FA of YouTube.
U2F <> Mobile 2FA
U2F = Hardware Security Dongle and no codes at all to enter anymore
If i try to connect my Youtube Account, the window to touch my U2F Dongle to acknowledge the use pops-up but it then fails because Steam Client is unable to handle the secure communication with the Google API and the Hardware Security Dongle and i get an 'Communication and Security Error' and i'm being asked to touch the U2F Hardware Dongle again ad infinitum.
Ah you were talking about the Dongle Version. Now I get it. I was not aware of that this was even available yet. Any hint on where I could read more about it?
It's available since 2014 now for Google Accounts and many other services, i also use it on Github, Dropbox, Bitbucket, Clouds and many others.
