Where's the Steam settings file?
I wanna have a backup of the Steam settings for the next time I have to reinstall Windows. I had set Steam to Bulgarian language interface and some other stuff like whether or not it should start with the system. However, after reinstalling Windows Steam went back to its default settings such as English language interface. So I wanna backup my client settings file. But I couldn't find it. It's not in AppData\Roaming, AppData\Local or in C:\ProgramData either. Where is it?

spread across multiple files.

I think it must be on C: drive because Steam is installed on a different partition than Windows and when I reinstall Windows, Steam and all the games remain intact. However, when I run the client, it's back to English. This means the language setting must be on C: drive.
It seems not only the language setting is there, the startup mode's there too.
Thanks, fauxtronic.

Could someone please post the entire path to the config files? I don't know what the period stands for before \steam.

That's where you've installed Steam.
If Steam adds, removes, or changes settings (again), then the method will fail like with Nvidia settings.

Steam\config\config.vdf
userdata\XXXXXXXXX\X\remote\sharedconfig.vdf
\userdata\XXXXXXXXXX\config\localconfig.vdf

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
