im not bothering wiht the obs forums as i wont be alerted to repsonces (and i dont like spam mail).
just did some extensive testing. its not peaking out ANY of my recources (cpu [or any one of the 8 threads], gpu, internet, ram, harddrive, ssd). ive poked around settings wiht stremlabs for a faster stream or less cpu uage and many other settings to no avail. telling it to use hardware encoding dint fix it but wouldent anyway as you cant stream on youtube with hardware.
it is literally JUST having the programe open. i treid talking to a froiend in discord during and it lags out all the mics on my end and the second the program closes it returns to normal. heck when its open task manager intermittenly tursn up not repsonding yet in recource monitor nothing drastcially changes between the programe running and not
the ONLY oddity i can find is 'desktop window manager' multiplies its reocurce use by 10 when obs or streamlabs is running (although 10x use isnt much on the minotors compared to other programmes)
out fo all the IT ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ive seen this one honestly has me drawing a blank. which is annoying when a freind of mine is runnign an acient beast of a PC that he really should upgrade by now and he downaloaded srteamlabs and is running fine of default settings and here i am where opening the programe nearly kills my PC.
1. any, any overlays at all being used? disable them (discord has one and it is crap)
2. gpu drivers up2date? update and refresh install them (perform a clean install)
3. windows up2date? update.
in this order. test in-between.
What setting did you change exactly?
Maybe even reset any and all gpu settings to the default and set whatever limits you want in the games.
EDIT: Just do what wuddih said
Are you using OBS studio 21.0.1 downloaded from that obsproject.com only?
As soon as I would open OBS or Streamlabs OBS, I would get massive FPS drops that were affecting computer performance as well, even tho my CPU usage was still low.
What instantly solved the issue was changing the Windows theme (I use Windows 7). More specifically, aero themes were causing the issue.
1- Right-Click on your desktop and click on Personalize
2-Choose any theme that is not in the Aero Themes Categorie (Windows 7 Basic or Windows Classic did the trick for me)
Hope this helps!
