Steam chat update (Why does steam look like discord?)

So I logged into the web browser and found that group chats are now available....Except that it looks exactly like discord. Not only that, but I am apparently not the owner of my own group chat and do not have the permissions that an owner would, i.e edit the chat icons, channels, unban users, ect.

Can anyone give a fix for this? And does anyone know when this will be corrected?

--edit-- there's a blank profile listed as the "group chat owner", with a blank avatar and it goes nowhere when I click it, and it does nothing when I try to message it. Even though I'm the owner.

The new chat is still in beta; there are quite a few known issues that have yet to be fixed.

A fix for the rank/permission issue was rolled-out just a few minutes ago.

I thought so too but re-reading it, it's not a fix for the permission - just an additional way of being able to tell users apart.

I too still have permission issues in various groups but am sure they're hard at work fixing those.

Okay well that's good to hear. Do you have any idea though, why pick discord's formatting?

You should ask Discord why they took after Slack, and Slack why they took after X-Fire, and X-Fire why they took after IRC.

Had no idea about that then. I heard IRC was using a format like this, but didn't realize this was a trend going on. :/

Just saying, things that work are likely to be reused. Either by natural development (various people reaching the same conclusion) or by making use of existing developments.

Oh I know, and I'm fine with that, just kind of surprised everyone. At least it's better than having to have a different platform for chats and another platform for groups. Was actually hoping something like this would happen, just didn't expect it to be a replica.

Also, another apparent bug: I cannot change my online status to any other status, I'm stuck to "Online", and I cannot view my friends from the friends tab, either. It says all my friends are Offline.
