Some new Steam translations in Romanian
Hello, can someone tell me which monkeys has translated the game badges names in the latest updates ? I mean, the good old translations from 2007 to 2015 were good, but then it looks like they were translating with "Google Translate" instead.

If they will see this thread, "chiar că sunteţi imbecili cu traducerile!"

Hello Cobrafeet,

We are sorry to hear that you've come across a subpar translation and we from the Steam Translation Server would like to fix that, however we are only responsible for the translation of Steam itself and Valve's games (eg. Dota 2, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, ...), so please bear with us if that is not in our power.

It would be awesome if you could tell me which phrase(s) you are talking about and/or provide screenshots.

Thanks!

game crafting badges as well as game achievement translations are done by the product owner/developer/publisher. so you have to contact those individually.

There is no problem with the Valve's games, just the games badges.
Not all of them are bad, they are just translated a way like "Google Translate" instead of a coherent way.
I added you (if it is necessary) to tell you the translations.

Hi there.

Sorry for the delay, I just noticed this thread.

First of all, it's rude to call someone monkey. It's not a polite way to express your dissatisfaction, no matter if you are right or not.

Most translators are volunteers, they do their best in their spare time. If you really like to lend a helping hand, you can join Steam Community Translation effort: http://translation.steampowered.com/

Romanian translation is constantly evolving. In recent years we placed an increased emphasis on Romanian spelling and gramatical rules. We have set high qualitative standards, a better glossary and terminology and the same cannot be said about other Romanian translation projects. Just look how many more translation projects use a wrong word like "link-uri" (eng. "links"), hyphens ( - ) misused in so many other cases.

For what I heard, you don't like the translation of "Power Player". As I see, Google Translate translates it as "Playerul de putere" (for "Power Player") or "putere player" (for "power player"). You can check out for yourself, you don't have to believe me. So the argument that we use Google Translate is invalid. I am not the translator of that string, if you are asking this.

Why don't you like "Jucător exemplar"? I consider it a good translation, word-by-word translations are not always a good idea, sometimes you have to use adaption.

And thank you for calling me and my colleagues "morons" in the last sentence when you said "chiar că sunteți imbecili cu traducerile!" (eng. "you truly are morons with your translations!")

Have a nice day! :steammocking:
