Steam Survey incorrect Hz results
I have an Acer Predator Z1 (Z271 bmiphz) monitor which is 144Hz G-Sync enabled. According to Steam's survey results, it's showing that I have a 60Hz monitor. Should probably get that corrected, otherwise what's the point of a survey if the data is incorrect?

Sounds more like a driver problem. Are you sure it's correct in Device Manager?

the point is ... refresh rate of the monitor is not even used anywhere.

imo also not relevant. 60hz displays are a giant industry standard that will not change much in the next 5-10 years.

i can just guess which method they are using to get this information. on windows the easiest thing is to just grab the data from the same thing that provides the data for msinfo, which you can check yourself if msinfo also gets it wrong, then it might be a driver issue, or you simply run in 60hz. (winkey+r -> msinfo -> component -> display -> resolution -> hpixel x vpixel x hz)

Are you one of those "Your eyes can only see 30fps" type of person? 60Hz is just not acceptable with competitive gaming anymore. I think you'd be surprised by how many gamers use 120Hz monitors or better, and with the prices on them becoming more and more affordable each year, I think 5 - 10 years will change a lot in terms of industry standards. Of course, non-gamers will still stick to 60Hz monitors, cuz they're not gamers so it makes sense to stick with it.

You are correct about the msinfo though. I wonder if it's due to me still using Windows 7 which in turn means outdated OS features to sense new hardware. With this in mind, maybe Steam should stop collecting that part of my system info and only collect info relevant to their needs.

I can assure you however, there's nothing at all wrong with my drivers / hardware and I can in fact run my games at 144Hz, although Overwatch always displays 134Hz for some reason, probably a glitch at their end. I have V-Sync disabled by default through Nvidia Control Panel and I use an FPS limiter through Precision XOC set to 144Hz. The only game I've had to forceably limit to 60fps is Skyrim due to it's physics issues.

nope, the opposite, i run 100+hz screens or more because of health issues since more then 20 years.

anyway... makes no much sense to discuss the rest, you pray buzzword marketing.

a question that was not asked directly but i implied it with "or you simply run in 60hz":
what refresh rate is set in windows display settings?

Ah, I see what you mean, there's that hidden monitor setting within Windows Display / Advanced section which no one ever goes to. That was set to 60Hz for some reason, though it didn't effect anything at all as like I said, all my games run at 144Hz. Couldn't care less if Windows desktop ran at 60Hz. But I guess I can set that one to 144Hz as well since, why not. Msinfo updated, now says 144Hz. Minor confusion solved. Thanks.
