How do I connect a headset to a PS4 controller?
Hello everyone,

I'm going back to PC after 5 years of playing only PS4. I'm comfortable with the PS4 controller and I'd like to keep using it in my Steam games. I'm connecting my controller via Bluetooth to my PC and everything is fine and working. However, when I connect a headset to my controller, nothing happens.

I'm NOT using DS4 or other software to connect the controller to my PC. I'm aware of people
Did anyone figure out how to do that? Do I have to use one of these software, such as DS4? I really would prefer to don't use them!

Thanks

DS4 = Dual Shock 4 = Official name for the controller.

If you're talking about DS4Windows, you should clarify this. Not sure if headphone output is supported on DS4Windows, but it's not supported via steam (yet)
No. If you have a controller with a 3.5mm jack, you should be able to plug one in. Steam has built in support for the DS4, which you can turn on, thus you don't need anything else if it's an official one.
I know the official Dual Shock dongle (dongle rather than bluetooth) creates a separate audio device for the microphone port and a headset. Does nothing appear in windows sounds?

My DS4 is official and I'm using it with Steam. Everything works fine except for the audio jack. I connect my headphone there (which works in my PS4) and no audio comes out.

sm0,
what you're saying is basically that I cannot use my DS4 through Steam and use a headphone at the same time. Is that correct? No way around?
Thanks
You want audio from the PS4 to come out of your controller audio jack? If that, check your audio settings, by going into the PS4 settings, you can change options such as only keep audio on TV, or etc, so check it out.

If u connect ur PS4 Controller to ur PC using Usb cable u can use steam and headphones at the same time.... only the wireless connection that doesnt work (bluetooth)
I'm beginning to wonder if the model of DS4 matters. I have a first generation controller I connected be wire and the audio doesn't work through the controller port. I'll check with a newer model DS4 later.

dunno if the V1 has audio, but this article makes it look like that would not be possible under certain conditions with older revisions of the controller.

So ya, that's what it is. I just tried with my new DS4 (model CUH-ZCT2U) and I'm getting audio through it. I have it wired to my computer's USB 3 port.
It works with the Sony adapter via DS4Windows because it creates additional inputs and outputs for audio, which an ordinary Bluetooth driver does not support. This is exactly why I have one of each, personally, because the Sony adapter only supports one device.

It works when it's wired why doesn't it work wirelessly?
I know it's not ideal but having both ps4 and xbox one controllers i seem to get less bluetooth sound interference with a Xbox One controller hooked up through bluetooth then i do with a ps4 controller hooked up with bluetooth. Anyone having both controllers might want to try the Xbox one bluetooth and a Bluetooth headset together.
Do you guys know how to use wireless headset if you have plugged ps4 controller via usb cable on your pc
