I have a friend that says has been offline for 9 days. But for some reason They told me That They have been Playing all week. I don’t get it.

I know but invisible labels you as Away.
no, it does not. would not make sense either.
you will appear as offline to others, not away.

The online/offline status concerns only the friends list. If your friend isn't signed in, he'll be shown as off.
Counts for the status on the profile too.

Yeah there is an option to change you online appearance/status to offline but it doesn't sound like your friend is doing this unless he isn't your friend and he's lying to you. lol. When you logged into steam it used to automatically log you into the friends network and your friends would see you online (I think there may have been an option to set it so your appearance/status is set to offline when you log in.) NOW when you log into steam you have to go to your friends list and click a big orange button that says log into the friends network or something like that. Else you appear offline to your friends, and you can't see if you're friends are online or not because your friend's list is basically disabled. When I log onto to steam it opens 1 widow for steam and another widow for my friends list (as if I had clicked on view -> friends). Not sure if that's a setting or not or if his is opening a widow when he launches steam or not.
