Gamersgate steam Email confusion.
Hi,
several years ago I bought games on Gamersgate. One of those games was TW Shogun 2. The problem is that I activated it on another steam account and that account was linked to another Mail address. Both of which I cannot remember. It is there in my gamersgate library but I cannot use it. So when I try to activate it with my new account steam states that it is a duplicate and that I can retrieve the account but for that it sends a mail to the mail account I no longer know.
Can anybody help? :steamsad:

This all doesn't help because I don't even know the steam name of the old account. It was like 8 years ago that I used it the last time. Same goes for the mail address.

The crazy part is that I cannot find a paypal receipt even though the gamersgate receipt says that I payed with paypal and in paypal I can only go back to 2016 but I have the account since 2008...

It’s good to prove you purchased a license. If you associated that license with another account, though, you cannot transfer it to that which you’re currently posting under.

I activated it on the old account. So the 40€ spent on the game are just wasted now??

If you cannot recover the relevant account, you won’t be able to use that license AFAIK.

the transaction for gamersgate is not relevant. they have no way of comparing that payment, because they never saw any of the money.

the cd key for that purchase is the only thing you could use as a proof.

This is crazy. I have a game in my gamersgate account (that account I can still access) but cannot use it. Is there away to directly contact steam?? I couldn't find that option so far.

Steam support does not have a phone number or email. It all goes through the Support pages.

Licenses are tied to an account. If you lost access to that account, you need to recover it. So start thinking hard what the login name was.

Steam has no customer support then? Wow.
And I lost the account like 8 years ago... I have absolutely no idea what it is...:steamsad: So I'm forked?

file a steam support ticket following the guide. provide as much proof as possible for the account, hope.

the cd key will help Steam support to identify the account and it might already be enough to recover it for you, otherwise they will ask for more info.

you dont need the accountname.

"activate key" - and steam will ask to send an e-mail to your old account.
