Malwarebytes false positive Dawn of War Game of the Year exe?
Detection, 3.12.2016 0:00, SYSTEM, Protection, Malicious Website Protection, Domain, 23.63.139.27, sv[.]symcd[.]com, 63441, Outbound, C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Dawn of War Gold\W40k.exe,

A quick google search points that it is a false positive since the domain looks to be owned by symantec can someone that has actual knowledge confirm this for me so i can get it off the back of my mind. It gets detected only on first start (3 times) and never apears when starting the game again.

symcd is symantec. is there a reason you run norton and malwarebytes?

Hard to say... You should ask on the malwarebytes forum, they have a special forum for questions like this.

Malwarebytes is not an antivirus, they recommend you run an anvirus in addition to Malwarebytes.

No i dont have norton im runing eset internet security, and on malwarebytes forums all they say whenever someone asks about it is this "This isn't a false-positive; sv[.]symcd[.]com is blocked for Adware.BrowseFox and Adware.BundleAssistant" with no actual explanation...

Also scans pick up nothing cant be anything else but another malwarebytes episode.

Ok, lets say they block it for good reasons. You can add it to exclusions and dont worry about or ignore it if it doesn't stops the game from working.

Looks like there is at least three threads about that domain, one of them got unblocked. Who knows

Why the game exe connects to that domain is a question for the warhammer forum possibly?

I would guess you are not risk for bad stuff happening while playing that game.

It works fine without adding it to the exclusions i could look it up on wh forum later but since one of them got unblocked i can check on malwarebytes forums from time to time and see if they resolve it, well thanks for trying atleast. :)

well, probably has nothing to do with norton products itself. mbam simply blacklisted the IP which other malware tried to connect to, which is a symantec certificate check server. why the game wants to connect to it? i dont care. if you did not modify the executable and scans dont show anything, this is a false positive.

you can try scanning it with virustotal.com but unlikely that this will give any results

Just downloaded from steam and started it after finishing and yes i did upload the exe to virustotal and verified as the original game executable no detections whatsoever.
