[SOLVED]Computer Crashes/Freezes or Locks up when downloading a game.

I am very curious about my computer crashing when downloading a large game in this case was DOOM (2016) the size of the download was about 58GB and my computer crashed around the 26GB mark. But when i download a game with a download of 20 GB it does not crash and completes the download. If any one knows what is going on please help me try to find a solution thank you.

Could be all kinds of things. Your OS could be bricked, driver issue, hardware issue.

It's most likely a software issue. The easy fix would be to just nuke it and reinstall Windows.

Well i finally found the problem, when i tried to install a game with a big download size it will slowly use up all the memory in task manager until it showed 99% was being used. So i did some research and found out that it was a memory leak from a program from my msi mother bourd called something like killer network , then i just changed the value in the registry and restart the computer it worked. Also Thank you for all you who tried to help me i really appreciate it.

Killer Network Access Manager ?

It has been seen in the past to cause issues, yes.

It's notorious for causing problems with gaming despite its claims its made to make gaming better.
Uninstall that Killer software, only use the driver.

Can confirm that Killer Network program is indeed a buggy mess. Heard some stuff about it. Memory leaks are a know issue with that program.

Ah yes, I had this a few months ago myself when I bought a new MSI laptop.

Pain in the arse frankly, and caused a lot of headaches tracking down.

I'm incredibly late but just wanted to say thank you for this solution. I honestly never bothered troubleshooting the problem despite having this issue for nearly 2 years since I just assumed it was my HDD failing. (was waiting for it to die completely before replacing.) Randomly decided to look into it finally and came across your fix. It's insane that I had this software installed since I built this PC 5 years ago and had no problems until around 3 years in. Not only did Killer Network cause large DLs to just freeze up my PC but it noticeably made the machine slow down after some hours of gaming.
