User not showing up in find a friend

I wanted to add my friend but when I looked up her user it said no player exists, so I tried her profile name and the same thing happened. She tried to search me up on her end and the exact thing happened to her. We are both on public but can't find each other, please help

Is her account only new or both of your account are new? Usually, you need to spend first on a game before you really can have a full control on your account. Make sure to input the username of your friend not her name on steam, you need her USERNAME.

Is your account unlimited? In order to add someone you must have an unlimited account.

If so, ask her to go to her profile, click with the right button and in the option Copy Page URL, then ask her to send this link to you.

You can send your profile link to her as well if her account is unlimited, in order to be able to add you.

I am new but I have spent $15 dollars, and she's had her account for years. I tried sending her a link to my profile. I'll update soon, but thanks for the help.

the usersearch on steam takes it sweet poopy time to index new profiles and changes.

i just wanted to remark that because account limitations have nothing to do with not being able to find people on Steam.

you are pretty much forced to exchange profile links these days
