Banned game in my Country
Hello there, I have a friend who wants to play a game with me, but the game is banned in my country. Because that the game does not show up for me, if he gift me the game, will I be able to play it?

Thanks in advance!

Depends on your country and the game in question. Some games are just not sold in a country but can still be activated and played. Others are completely banned and can not be activated or played.

Yes, it'll most likely get you banned if caught.

in most cases your local ban of a media item is just for advertising, in most cases it is not illegal to obtain an item over other methods or even for store owners to sell it "under the table". check your laws about that.

isthereanydeal.com
and look for a store that is not so compliant with your local laws and sells Steam keys.

steamdb.info
check for the game if it has regional subscriptions that are not allowed to be activated in your country and in reference with the ITAD look for a reseller that sells a subscription that is not one of the restricted. in most cases, the dev/pub just doesn't enter a price for your country Steam, which results in the message on Steam that this product is not available in your region and they dont put any special restriction on.

do not use VPNs to circumvent those restrictions. i very many cases there is a completely legal method to obtain the game you want on Steam.

If he can gift it directly via Steam, yes, you should be able to play it.
They disable gifts into disabled regions, so you should be on the safe side. In most cases.
