8.00 GB (3.94 GB useble) PC PROBLEM
Hi all, thanks for taking the time to view this post.
I need someone to help me fix this.
My pc is what I think pretty damn good but somehow it became thrash.
I have a 64-bit operation system
AMD Athlon(tm) X4 860K Quad Core Processor 3.70GHz

But my question is, If i try to launch as an example CS-GO + OBS my cpu will go instant to 90%.
Incredible right?

Well what it looks like is that my pc says: Installed memory (RAM): 8.00GB (3.94 GB useble).

how to get it back to 8gb useble (if possible) and otherwise what would you recommend me.

NOTE: I am extremely bad with computer processors, boot menus & ram things so please kindly describe it detailed.

Will be waiting for a response,
Thanks!

That looks like one of your RAM sticks is defect or not functions correctly. It detects them all but can only access some if it.
Could also be a simple contact error of the RAM not sitting right in the slot. Maybe remove them and put them in again, making sure that its fits tightly.

If you go to Control panel -> system, does it say 8GB installed - 3.94 usable?

Had similar issue once; had faulty memory. If you have two sticks of ram, either one isn't in the right place/seated correctly and/or has fried.

Also to add, Both CS:GO and OBS are CPU heavy, OBS mostly depends on the settings (video bitrate, FPS, resolution etc.) and Source engine games tend to lean more for the CPU than GPU. Running both - I'm surprised your system hasn't light on fire yet.

If you are not comfortable opening the PC and dealing with the RAM, I would suggest taking it to a computer shop or asking a friend who has experiance with working in a PC for help.

1.Reseat the RAM sticks
2.Use msconfig command , tab Boot, advanced options and uncheck max memory

is this a new computer and one of your ram sticks never worked? or have you had this computer a while and this is just now the issue?

If the computer is old, your ram is most likely toast.

If its new, try reseating it (its super easy, there are little clips on the side you pull outwards, then pull the card straight out, clean with air, then put the card back in until the little clips pop back inwards. The cars have notches so you cant really put it in wrong. If you have more then 2 slots you can try putting the ram stick in another slot aswell) if this doesnt work your ram stick is toast

How old is the computer, and are you using (2) 4 GB sticks or (1) 8 GB.

I have a couple of old laptops that originally had 2 x 512 MB and in each I had replaced one of those with 2 GB bringing each up to 2.5 GB. One of the laptops will not turn on now, so I put both 2 GB sticks in the other laptop. Its BIOS from 2007 recognized that 4 GB was installed, but 3.3 GB usable. And sure enough, when I installed 64-bit Linux on it, that can only use the 3.3 GB.

And my desktop from 2010 will not work with RAM larger than 4 GB each (4 x 4 GB = 16 GB). That is why I asked if it is one stick or two. BIOS or other things may recognize 8 GB installed, but the chipset might only work up to 4 GB each.

Integrated videochip leeching your RAM to have some RAM of its own. Working as intended.

use 1 RAM stick at a time to know if one stick is defective or the RAM slot is defective.

how to install RAM: http://www.wikihow.com/Add-RAM

remove RAM:
4. Remove existing RAM (if necessary). If you are replacing RAM, pop out the old modules by pressing down on the latches on each end of the module. The RAM module should pop out of the slot, allowing you to lift it directly out.
