Is there a way to move my steam wallet funds back onto my card?
Title

P.S.: I am talking about a credit card, not a giftcard.

why though? it seems stupid that you would need to put $5 in your wallet and spend 99 cents and not be able to take the $4.01 back.

Only if...

Steam Wallet Refunds

You may request a refund for Steam Wallet funds within fourteen days of purchase if they were purchased on Steam and if you have not used any of those funds.

http://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds/

If you want to move money that you made on Steam, no. That would not be allowed.

That would make things bad on Steam. It would encourage money laundering which is illegal.

Thanks. None of my money was made on steam.

See, here's the thing. That Steam Wallet balance on your account? It's not yours. No, really it's not - it's Valve's. Don't believe me? Have a closer look at the SSA that you agreed to when you created the account - last paragraph of section 3.C.

So "Steam Wallet funds do not constitute a personal property right" - in other words, you have no claim to them and Valve are under no obligation to let you use that balance for anything other than buying Steam content and services. You agreed to this, by the way, and Valve will hold you to your word.

wow, that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks, they should change that. I could understand not being able to take out money that you made directly on steam, but when it comes to your own hard earned money it should be different.

Nope. It is the same if you purchase a gift card or for store credit. They can only be used at that store.

You chose to purchase wallet funds.

If you still had the $5, Valve would have been able to refund it, but you spent some of it already.

Besides, Valve had to pay a fee to the credit card just to get the $5 into your account (a flat fee + a % fee) and they would have to pay to send it back. One of the reasons there is a minimal is so Valve can ensure they do not lose money from the transaction.

If it was a gift card then you or someone bought it from some other store than steam. They in turn bought it from Steam.

The problem is that they (steam) have no idea who actually paid for your gift card so they don't want to give the money to you since it might cause all sorts of problems. (money laundering)

(it's also a huge hassle for them to refund back again through all the steps so they don't do it.)

I would guess that almost no store can refund gift cards because of the money laundering risk.

On the bright side, you've got an excuse to buy a good game or two, or a smorgasbord of CS:GO skins if you're that kind of guy.

Just give yourself the money you saved on your next steam purchase, or did you plan to never buy anything on Steam ever again?

I didn't "choose" to purchase wallet funds, valve made me because I couldn't just use my PayPal card to just buy a $0.99 item on the ManCo store on TF2. If I could have not used Steam Wallet, I would've.

What gave you the idea that I had a giftcard?

They aren't; they are just comparing it to one since they have similar structures. Also, Valve didn't make you do anything. You chose to add the $5.00 to your account.

I've had no issues using PayPal or a credit card in the past. Valve didn't "make you" buy anything from the ManCo store in TF2. You chose to.

FYI, if you choose to make future purchases such as a game, you can pay for it with both credit/paypal/whatever and your remaining wallet balance.

No. But I looked it up and I see you just made a new thread to ask about that saying that you intend to buy a $10 game, which you can use your remaining wallet balance and whatever payment method you choose to buy...which really makes this entire thread nonsensical since it seems like you were intending to spend more money anyway.

But anyway...now you know.
