Unredeemed steam gift got refunded.
I bought my girlfriend 2 games during the summer sale. As she usually isn't playing as much during summer when it's warm, she didn't get around to redeem them. Last night I then got an email saying they got refunded as there was no response. We both didn't know there was a 30 day deadline.
Is it possible to reverse this refund?

this is a good sistem, in that way the gifts wasn't lost in the limbo forever, you can allways repurchase, if she cant even redeem the gifts is clear that gaming is not one of her priorities.

Yeah, trying to force people to do things they don't care about might not be the best approach anyway.

Still, I would have been surprised by an automatic refund as well. For Valve, it really makes no difference what happens to the game, especially after the 14 day refund window.

It might have purely technical reasons since they abandoned the inventory-based gifts for some reason, and if the recipient finally rejects a pending gift after 3 years there'd be no place where it could go.

Nop, no way

The automatic refund makes sense once you think of it: If you gift a game to someone who simply doesn't care, you don't want the money to go to waste.

Thanks for the answers guys. I also like this system. It prevents games from going to waste. The games I bought her were actually ones I know she wanted. I sent a ticket to support, although I don't have high hopes. If they don't come through it's her loss...

Support can't help unfortunately, system working as advertised.

Do gifts expire if they are not redeemed in a certain amount of time?
After a gift has been delivered to a friend, they have thirty days to accept the gift. Once the gift has been accepted, the game is permanently subscribed to the Steam account that it was redeemed on.

Just in case anyone wanted to know: As everyone (myself included) expected the refund can't be reversed (although I was surprised I got an anwser that fast).
Well, I guess I'll get something from my own wishlist then :)

So i have to keep the item in my inventory and then send it?! WTH is that logic?! I want this in my inventory then! I bought Insurgency and Shadow of Mordor for a friend, before he gets graphic card for his PC!

How should i repurchase now, when it cost so much?! There is nowhere, stated it will get automaticly refunded. The heck ..

PS:What is the difference when i send a gift, or if i keep it in inventory?! ... Tell me i want to know! There is no actual difference if gift keep pending, or i keep my game in my inv. I dont see it!

link is above that should be also linked in the purchase process. and you cant keep gifts in your inventory.

you buy game as a gift
select friend
schedule the delivery
friends has delivery date + 30 days time to redeem it, after that it will be auto-refunded.

if you get a gift, you frikkin accept it. not having the hardware is no real reason to delay that.

Why instead of autorefund WHICH I DONT WANT cause i bought game in sale, i want it to return in my inventory?! ... This feels like ripoff.
