RESOLVED | Steam wrong file size for everything, taking up 100+gb space
So long story short, apparently Steam and every single game I ever install with it registers as, + takes up 12.4 gigabytes on my computer, and they all show as installed on the same date whenever I download anything. So I could download a 150mb game, and it takes up 12.4 gigabytes of spaces. I'm down well over 100 gigabytes on files that don't even exist since my computer for some reason detects all of the steam games as 12.4 gb. Wondering if anyone's ever had anything even slightly similar happen to their computer with either steam or any other series of files. Using windows 10, pls kill me.

EDIT | : Fixed the issue by re-installing Steam. Had nothing else work aside from that, so if anyone else ever gets the issue I'd say just uninstall all of the games then reinstall Steam + the games as a last resort, assuming you have all of your save data backed up.

Aside from the size listed in Add/Remove programs, have you gone to the Steam or game folder and confirmed it's actually taking up 12.4 GB?

I don't see any extra files in any of the steam folders, even after unhiding all of the important system files that folders hide by default via control panel. It's all in the Add/Remove programs, and also takes up the space on my C drive somehow.
Go to the "common" folder inside steamapps, pick a game, right-click and choose "Properties". It will list the total size of the files in the folder. Confirm it's actually 12.4 GB.

Brawlhalla, a small game is going up to 35+ gb and counting right now. The file size count doesn't seem to stop. Yet it only does that when i use properties on the Brawlhalla folder, but none of the files or folders inside of that folder. Gonna assume it does the same for all of the other games as well. Might be a hardware problem, just not sure since I saw about 2 posts with this happening to others and someone had a fix but never posted it.
I'm not sure what is going on then, I'm sorry. Hopefully a more veteran user can assist you.

After the file size endlessly goes up in the properties, when i cancel then check it again it comes up with the right file size, but still shows as 12+ gb in Add/Remove program + on my C drive, so idk if that helps or not with an answer. And that's fine I suppose, thanks for the effort at least.

windows does the crap, that value is simply incorect. check the directory sizes of the games.
When I got Counter-Strike: Source, It said 4411 MB, I did some research and turns out it's
4.411 GB, but Steam thinks it takes 2.4 GB...

Could be caused by custom content like maps and mods.
