Lagging mouse on desktop while a Steam game downloads on laptop???
I don't know why this is happening, but I've tested this several times to confirm. While I'm downloading a game on my laptop (using same steam account), the cursor on my *desktop* becomes crazy sluggish/slow/laggy. It doesn't matter whether I am logged into Steam on the desktop or not. My cursor still lags! EVEN after restarting the PC, soon as the log in screen shows, my cursor is lagging! My desktop isn't linked to my laptop either (not sharing files, printer, ect). When I cancel the game's downloading process on my laptop....the mouse on the desktop is back to normal. It's very annoying that I can't do any work or play games on my PC because my lappy is downloading a game lol I have looked all over the forums to see if this is a common issue people are experiencing, but found nothing. ANYONE got any ideas why this happens and how? If it helps my OS on both computers is Windows 10, and I use a wireless Logitec mouse.

Hi, and thanks! but that article seems to have suggestions for issues I am not experiencing. I strictly get mouse lag on my desktop *only* when my laptop is downloading a Steam game. I also don't see why I should have to do any of the suggested options either, just because I'm downloading a game ON A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SYSTEM lol That is what I can't get my head around...how it is doing that :/ ???
Ah now I see your problem. Are both systems connected to the same router? Are both connected via WLAN?

If you download a game on your Laptop and disable the internet connection on your Desktop, does your mouse still lag?

Yeah, my desktop is wired and my lappy is wireless. Using a Motorola modem/router. I'll try disabling the internet on my desktop and get back to you, but I hope I don't have to do that each time my laptop downloads...I need internet haha
Try connecting your PC via Wireless LAN and see if this fixes it.

OKAY so...get this...I unplugged my ethernet cable, completely disabling internet from the desktop. Then started to resume downloading DOOM on my lappy. And the mouse lag STILL happens. I am stumped :O

You mean have my PC go wireless too? I've never done that before. Not sure I want to either XD
Okay then it can be only 1 thing. Connect your LAN Cable to your Laptop and try if your mouse still lags. If this doenst solve the problem im done
wireless mouse on desktop, wifi internet on laptop. you see no correlation there?

The mouse uses a dongle, needs to be in a USB port to work.

and? both spam their signals on 2.4 ghz, considering you are unlikely to use 5ghz wifi.
The mouse is wireless, you are using wireless LAN. Both connections transfers data, but the wireless LAN transfers more data. So the WLAN frequency blocks the mouse wireless frequency. This is why i said, try to connect the LAN Cable to your Laptop.

That worked...Thank you. God I feel dumb lol But in my defense this is a first time thing for me, downloading something from steam on another machine, so I'm learning. Thanks again for the time :)
