I have no idea what you just said.. But if you are saying that a PS4 controller won't work with steam, then you are wrong. It's the first controller to get full in-client configurability - it started december 2016 AND WORKED (until the next day)
Yes, but that shouldn't be necessary - Steam supports the PS4 controller. But I somehow can't reconfigure it, and try again.
But I would love to try a "plan b" - but I'm running on a mac. I will google a DS4mac edition (if such exist, I will be happy) :)
Maybe it's the game itself? It's about "Enter the Gungeon".
Sidenote: Just tried playing "SuperMeat Boy" - it worked flawlessly. Plug and Play.
Anyway, when I start "Enter the Gungeon" I notice how a "skip intro" button switched from Q to triangle. That's perfect! However, after a few seconds, it begins to jitter nervously back and forth to Q and triangle. It's like it dosen't know what to do.
And somehow, now I can't open the steam menu in-game with the controller, to try to map the controls or something. I can ONLY use the left stick..
