What's the steam avatar size? I need to resize my current avatar.

That depends. The avatars are a pain in the ass. Since iv added in 1080p logos and stuff and they have worked but others havent its weird. But yeah it is 184x184. My current logo if i can remember is 800x600 something along those lines.

Keep in mind you may need to adjust the size of your avatars many times be it fits how you like it.

I have a 16x9 wallpaper and it resized itself perfectly right now.

it can come and go. Most of the time, it will auto size and upload properly, and then sometimes, Steam gets buggy and there are issues.

A while back, we saw many threads complaining how it would not work after a Steam update. A couple of days/many hours later and it was resolved and was back working again.

I had to resize mine, for example, when I uploaded it. I used Microsoft Paint to edit it to 184 pixels square, as the good Snapjak posted above, and that fixed it for me back then.

yeah i am about to make my avatar match my youtube and twitter profile pictures. this was very helpful i would do what you are doing and have it automatically resize but im challenging myself and making my 800x800 logo for youtube then trying to make it again as 400x400 for twitter and then make it 184x184 for steam. perfect.

The maximum file size is 1024kb. The original image may be any resolution as long as the file size is under 1024kb. Steam Community will automatically resize the image to a square 184, 64, and 32 pixels.
