Why good game are removed from the store or not added !?
Hi,

I wonder why some very good games are removed from the store ?

example : GRID 1, etc...

And why other very good games are not added to the store ?

example : toca race driver 1/2/3, Dirt 2, need for speed underground 2, Test drive unlimited, etc...)

I wonder, because I see very bad games in the store, games so bad than we wonder what they are doing here... :steamfacepalm: and games that are excellent and very appreciated are removed or not added.

Why ?

edit : (Is that only racing games, I know lol, but it's just for the example ^^)

Games are removed by publishers. Typically due to licensing issues. Either they loose the distribution license or there's something in the game that they have no lice4nse to use anymore. IT'd be best to ask the publishers that question.

As for those other games not being added. Ask the publishers. Steam cannot add games trhe publishers do not bring to them.

Licensing, publisher support, compatibility with modern machines, rights issues, because the publisher wants you to buy the newest one only, etc. It often doesn't have anything to do with something as subjective as being a "good" game.

Since these sorts of games like to feature real world brands and car models it may have something to do with that.

The OP clearly loves racing games. Me.. I consider them to be lazy dreck,
Isn't Need for Speed published by Electronic Arts? If so they have their own digital distribution service these days, called Origin. I'd presume they'd prefer publishing there since they don't have to pay Valve a commission to sell their games there.

As for old games that got removed, their forums are still there, so you can ask in the forums why they got removed.

Are those older NFS games? I think that's the case with EA's older games, some of them (e.g. older Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Mirror's Edge) are on Steam because they were on Steam before Origin was created.

There are various licenses involved with racing games.
Ranging from the teams and leagues to the very car itself. Which can include brand, likeness and even sound.

And it's all but easy to distribute the changes. You can't just issue an update as this will - especially on Steam - cause former owners to lose the licensed content as well.

Thx for information, I find it sad that licenses are not forever for such and such games. :steamsad:
If I understand well, all racing games are doomed to disappear of sales at a moments or another then ?
or continue to sell, and to be obliged make vehicles without texture or without brand ?
(as GTR2 of simbin).

Depends on the terms of the license.
