That is a complete fabrication. Where exactly did you get these "statistics" from. Windows 7 is under 2% of the market share at the moment and dropping rapidly.
As already mentioned in another thread Firefox is dropping support for Windows 7 in 2024 as well after support for 115 ends.
Yes no more update also but it will still be perfectly usable after.
Yep, but two totally different types of software. A browser doesn't need to connect to a secure backend like steam does, authenticate your games, etc.
Sadly people keep ignoring that this scenario has happened on steam already over 5 times and keep acting surprised every time it happens again. Windows 7 is a dead OS with under 2% of the userbase using it, and is nearly 15 years old.
Even its manufacturer are telling people to stop using it. So people will have to stop using antiquated software or live with the consequences
https://gs.statcounter.com/os-version-market-share/windows/desktop/worldwide
Win10 71.45%
Win11 23.01%
Win7 3.78%
Only thanks to some legacy software used in gov. administrations that hasn't been updated.
OP the issue isn;t a matter of reliability bu capability and Windows 7just lacks the capability Valve requires going forward.
Really?
600 vulnerabilities since wn7 went EOL. That means none of them have been fixed or will be fixed.
Your OS has more holes than swiss cheese.

Agree !
And about stats, just take a look on how they are harvested through web site by a javascript, good souce but not so relialble in fact it depand if you block third party script or not and also block dns.
and web browser statistics are irrlevant for Steam.
Why are you refusing to post where these supposed statistics are?
Your claiming its widely used, when its not. So its not that important as the amount of users using Windows 7 is so small as to be insignificant. If there are truly more users using Windows 7 then 10 that drastically changes thing, so please cite your source for your claim.
...nothing do with you
Ok.....
So how about that link to those statistics?
Please cite your recent statistics, I checked and your claim does not appear to be correct. It appears windows 7 userbase is under 2%, FAR FAR FAR below that of windows 10 and its dropping FAST.
All i can suggest would be to setup any virtual tool like virtualbox or qemu and download some official microsoft iso or any linux or linux distro and test these os throught a virtual machine first.
