Steam downloading something huge in the background
Nothing shows in the downloads window but it's sucking up data like as if it's downloading some massive game. Been sucking up 100 Mbps steadily for the last 15 minutes and still going on. Don't tell me it's client update because not even downloading steam from the scratch uses this much data.

How do I stop this? Restarting did nothing.

Dude I know what a task manager is. And it's the steam icon on the windows taskbar that's been slowly progressing too.

nvm fixed it
cursed thing was 'updating' a hidden game i deleted long ago. It must have automatically tried to verify files and decided to download everything I chucked. Should have uninstalled properly instead of pressing shift del on the folder..
only spotted it because after resetting download cache, steamworks redist showed up in the downloads section like it usually does when installing a game.

Steam has a log folder...
with many files which contents tell you exactly what it does and did at what time.

download activity in in content_log.txt

you will find the answer to this in them.
