So apparently you can follow people now.
How do I check how many I have? And what do they get to see/do?

Looks like it's broken for now, maybe you will be able to get notifications when your friends purchase a game or when they add a new friend or update their status i guess,or even when they subscribe to a curator or add a game to their wishlist.

That's too good to be true :D

You can follow random people now, but they don't show up anywhere. Same goes for followed workshop-publishers; you can't see who you're following.

I think that is on the activity

Possibly, but I'd love an alternate page for followed people on the history so I don't have to scroll through so much stuff.

I'm wondering if this is so that people can follow broadcasters, making it easier to find them without being friends. That's really the only positive use I can see for it.

In which case (or in any case, really), it should be opt-in for those who want to be easily found, because I really don't want random people following me.

I agree on that -- The last part, however.. would make the feature just be maliciously utilized if that happened.

Follow this user to see when they post new Steam Guides, create new Collections, or post items in the Steam Workshop or Steam Greenlight.

You see that text and also a follow button when you go to a users "Guides" or "Workshop Items" page.

See here: http://steamcommunity.com/id/gaspletroller/myworkshopfiles/

So i'd guess the "Follow" you find under the "More" Button on the profile does the same.
But thats just guessing.

The good thing you can follow people that are not your friends, but you like for x reason(i.e trader, good guy,e.t.c).

This is probably preparation for the broadcast :) also very helpful for people that use workshop
Followed someone and I don't get any notifications in activity tab, so it seems not working or I just don't know how does it work.

There's also no list who I follow, or how many people follow someone, etc.

steam sucks tbh, a lot of things are are not stable.

I think it's so you can follow someone and see what they post on the forum, the activity feed already shows what your friends have been playing, buying and unlocking. I could see this feature being abused.
