You just end with the current popular fad winning everything, overshining many more deserving titles.
As much as people love to criticise the Game Awards ( the show) , their system with a mix of user and jury votes produce far better results.
As much as I love playing Satisfactory myself I think it's fair to argue that if you compare both games then the replay value is definitely not the same. There is much more content to discover (and overlook) in Elden Ring.
Not to mention the fact that "tech" isn't a concept that appeals to as many players.
