How Do Warnings Work Here?
How many warnings before ban?
How many times can you get banned?
How does it work in general?
I can't find on google this information, I am probably typing it wrong.

Thanks!

Moderators discretion. There is no set amount.

you wont be told that information, it would only allow people to game the system. when you violate the forum rules, your entire ban/warning history is looked at to determine if a warning should be given or a ban is called for. the time between warnings is going to have an impact on you getting warned or banned.

your history is not limited to one forum section, your actions on all steam forums is taken into account.

Also, OP, note that the specific game hubs are moderated and run by the game developers themselves and they're allowed to enforce their rules as they see fit.

So this isn't a one size fits all system - the game hubs should have rules pinned to the top of their general discussion pages.

If moderators bother to warn you, learn from it.

Yes, absolutely. I appreciate all your comments.

How can I get back to the moderator message by the way?

On the right side of this page there is a 'Community Messages' button just below 'post history'.

One more question, do they ever disappear or you are stuck with them forever?
Cathulhu 16 JUL 2022 a las 11:06
Forever.

It depends who gives you the warning. I got a 3 day ban from the Ori and the Blind Forest hub immediately in 2015 because of one comment, no warning given nothing. On the other hand I was given a warning recently (doesn't matter why) which admittedly did annoy me but at the same time I was just glad it wasn't another suspension from the forums even though I don't really use hubs that much tbh but you get the point. Just be careful with what you say because it can lead to a misunderstanding.

From what I know of how it works (This is all purely speculation from what I've experienced and is in no way precisely valid):
If you get a ban on a steam discussions forum, for any length or any reason (by a developer, e.t.c), you get 1 Strike.
When you get 3 Strikes, you get an automatic Community Ban.
I believe the bans scale like this:
3 Days
1 Week
3 Months
1 Year
Permanent.

Strikes last forever - so if you got banned off of two steam discussions, for say, one day and three days, you're 2/3 strikes. Several months later if you get another strike, you'll get a community ban.
If your previous community ban was 3 days, the next one is 1 week.

I am not sure of the accuracy of these, I'm just going off of my own experience - I don't presume to know exactly how the system works. Individual strikes can be refuted and bans can be appealed.

When banned from the Community, you cannot:

Share/Edit your profile
Add friends
Post on any Discussions
Participate in activity/community
Upload to or edit in the workshop
Unable to upload images in steam chat
Unable to post or edit reviews
Unable to give or receive awards.

Again, not 100% sure on these and I am in NO WAY affiliated with steam or anything like that.

Being Community banned means you can't participate in the discussions hub you were banned/suspended from. Being able to edit your Profile is unaffected. If they restricted you from being able to do anything to your Profile that would be the day I would take my custom elsewhere.

well, what matters being able to edit your profile when no one can see it?
with a community ban your profile becomes blank for everyone.

you also get one automatically if you are permabanned from multiple hubs.

There is no system, warnings are simply a tool a mod can use to let a user know that they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up in a reasonable fashion without going ballistic.

Forum bans are handed out by either game forum mods or steam support.

Steam support does whatever they want 99% of the time and maybe 1% of the time they actually use their brain.

Forum mods do whatever they want 100% of the time, but at least a few forum mods are normal people who give a ♥♥♥♥.

Most mods are too lazy or power hungry to even hand out warnings, they'll give straight bans for the smallest of things or just make things up when they want. So if you get a warning, that's actually a good sign. You got lucky. A different mod would've given you a month ban for that.

But the bottom line is, there is no system. There are a few vague rules and the mods can handle it how they feel like. Welcome to steam. Enjoy your stay.

community bans are handed out by an automatic bot that will flag you for having multiple forum bans within a certain time. They start at 2 weeks. How many during what time is a mystery.
