Steam greenlight was the best
I remember back in 2013 when greenlight was a thing

We got ton of good game back in the day and a lot of quality game, it was a good filter for meme and trash game

Of course it failed sometime but it was more better than the game we have now

I see on the store a lot of meme game like HENTAI stuff hentai other who are just made for quick cash

Of course now filter exist
But it fail a lot and they are way too many garbage game out there who flood the good indie game

Please valve do something better than your 100$ filter

It was a horrible filter. "Hey, vote for my game & get it for free" was a pandemic and the flavor I'd of trash is n Steam did, in fact, take place under Greenlight. The trash you see started flooding in under Greenlight.

All that Greenlit garbage was the reason for the change to the current system.

Valve never did "quality" curation on Steam and they don't plan to do any. the opposite. Steam was open, is open and will stay open.

and you have the wrong perception what Greenlight was.
Greenlight never prevented games from getting on Steam and was not designed to do that.
if Greenlight was not shut down, every game on it, would have gotten on Steam.

it was a tool for Valve to see what to prioritize.
it was just for organizing the waiting queue to get on Steam. as better tools were developed that represent Valves stance on it more and streamline the on-boarding process, namely Steam Direct, Greenlight was no longer needed, so it was shut down.

Greenlight was awful and the amount of abuse going on with it was insane. Sure there were a handful of good games that came out of it but then we had the likes of Digital Homicide and co.

Although barriers to entry are limited now to just a small fee, Valve has plenty of visibility and requirements in place whereby games have to perform and reach certain thresholds to attain a certain level of exposure.

If you are seeing lots of Hentai and meme games then that's on you and your store preferences.

Early days of Steam saw tons of games rejected due to poor quality. It was very closed at the beginning - not because people didn't want to sell their game on Steam, but because they were rejected from doing so.

Greenlight was good for a while

And yet it did nothing to Stop Digital Homicide from putting their games on Steam. Yah it worked great.

Also there aere Mem gams back then too. Grass Simulator actually made it through Greenlight.

It only shows you Hntai if that's what you spend your time playing and looking at. And if you check the 'Show me Porn' box in your store settings. So Uhm. yeah It's showing you what you clearly told it to.

You're basically assuming Greenlight actually worked as a Filter M8.

Littl;e secret.

The only thing Greenlight did was delay the release of a game. Eventually every game in greenlight would get on the store. That's how it was designed.

No it wasn't. I remember reading the devs give away free keys to vote for the game. For Steam to have curation. Valve needs to spend of manpower to check every titles and be the judge. Valve has no interested in either spending money on such manpower or to judge since people have different tastes.

Are they? For starters, what tags have you blacklisted and did you blacklist them for the store landing page or the discovery queue (yes, those two blacklists are separate). I've blocked the "Hentai" tag and don't see any of it.
Well, in theory, I could miss out on good games, but I've yet to see a good GAME, which works as a GAME, with GAMEPLAY and GAME DESIGN which is also Hentai. Best I've seen are visual novels, but most of those are yer olde hentai fantasy and I'm too old for this (gotta say, I loved them when I was a 16yo pathentic virgin myself).

Greenlight was not the best but to be honest it was very fun sometimes to look at indie games that wanted to get published on steam, project and so on and upvote or judge them, beside that funny interactive stuff and time to spend to look at indie games everything is fine now anyway.
