Steam To Get ZAR Currency
Yes, you heard correct my fellow South Africans and ZAR community. I just got an email from Steam Valvue saying that it will implement a Rand currency.

From what i have read hopefully we will get it on 11 November or sooner. I am so exited about this. Its stupid i know, but finally, no more Dollars.

Received the same email. Wish there were more details. If they're simply converting the current prices of games to ZAR using the USD/ZAR exchange rate + adding the new South African tax on digital goods, then it's not good news.

there are no exchange rates. pub/dev enters the price for every currency manually.

if it becomes available it will happen automatically. until then you pay in the default currency and price, which is usd.

Ok, but the same goes - when that publisher/dev enters the price for ZAR for their game, which price will they use?

I hope they don't simply look at the ZAR/USD exchange rate to figure out what to charge in ZAR. I realise this is up to each developer/publisher, but I'm hoping they will take local retail pricing into account.
I know that in Russia the Steam prices are much lower than we've been paying. So hopefully they'll also take pity on us poor saffers too :)

I want to buy Fallout 4, but I'm waiting for the currency to convert, I feel like a kid waiting for their birthday present but it's just not coming :P

At first I thought it would convert at midnight US time, but that never happened. Now I'm checking back every hour but it just stays in USD :steammocking:
Found this link just now http://store.steampowered.com/zar but when I restart my client, all games are still in USD and the balance of my wallet is too.
Valve seems to be taking their time with this one. :angry_creep:

the publishers/devs have to do that. Valve just recommends them prices, they have to at least click a button and until they have not done it, the game is not purchaseable in missing currencies.
