Good for the original generation and the new generations, old & new fans. Definitely seeing a trend of older games coming back
The localization is new and based on it, the game is clearly the Saturn & Playstation version. The PSP game had the new voice work, but it also had the gameplay and most of the exploration in dungeons stripped out to make it quicker and easier to pick up and play as a portable game.
I still have my old versions too with the cloth map. Yea, i got the special edition. I think the second game had cards that came with it, but the first one had a cloth map with it.
Oh right, i think there was a pool scene with bromides with nudity on them...lol. I think they even had nudes of the guy characters too that i remember made me laugh back in the day. I think one had nash like laying down...lol.
Yes it is. I bought them both at Best Buy when they released.
Got mine at a gamestop or a EA games. Forgot as i used to use both those stores at that time for the best deals.
I also got the special edition of ARC THE LAD collection also.
Yes ... I owned the Arc the Lad collection too.
I could kick myself in the ass for getting rid of them. Shame I had no choice at the time.
LOL..i once got rid of Persona 2: Innocent Sin on ps1. Years later though, found a used copy of it and rebought it though. That annoying mental hospital level really made me pissed off in the game, but after i bought it again, i was older and used more techniques and skills to beat it with a guide. Finally completed that game.
I almost sold some other old games, but i kept them. For example, The 7th Saga, North American version, which is where i live, was made harder on purpose by oversea company, and was very hard to beat, but it took me 5 years on and off to fully beat it.
Man. Cannot tell you how happy this makes me. We are just getting every JRPG I've ever loved lately.
Between this, Suikoden, and Star Ocean 2, now all I need are Skies of Arcadia (seriously... Sega... what the heck?) and the one that will probably never, ever happen, because I'm probably the only person on Steam who wants it: Legend of Legaia lol.
I still got my skies of Arcadia remake version on gamecube. IT was fun when i played it, and even enjoyed the pirate hunting stuff. Legend of Legaia is kinda blocky nowadays. Used to have a copy of that too, but sold it after i fully beat it. Those ps1 graphics really are old looking now. If they remastered it with newer graphics, that would be fine. I have no issues with the graphic style, but i imagine alot of people will complain about it. I mean, people are complaining about the graphics on that new Metaphor game and how it looks old graphic wise.
Here, take a look here, and i thought the graphics for that game are decent..but people are very picky about graphic styles nowadays:

Yes, I guess unfortunately we're far beyond the days of vertex warping and the like being "neat looking" to people lol. (Though I guess even back then people criticized it. But I thought it was kind of a novel visual identity PS1 had, personally.)
But yeah a remaster of Legaia is something I doubt will ever happen. That game's combat system was so fun to me, though. Skies on the other hand, is literally my favorite video game of all time. After around 50 years gaming lol. Somehow that JRPG just did everything I love about games. And it was so optimistic and free feeling for its time.
