Anyone else get screwed over by subscription.
I had an EA subscription that renewed. I asked for a refund and they refused saying I had abused the refund policy. This is a crock of ♥♥♥♥, I only played one game on it several months ago and havent used it in close to 9 months. Anyone else get screwed like this? Is there a way to transfer the games off steam? Cause I wont be buying anything else from steam.

Subscriptions are not refundable.

Your fault for not cancelling it.

Digital subscriptions of any service will always tend to renew even without notice and this will be stated before you agree to it. The onus is on the user to cancel else it will auto-renew.

You must have been refunding quite a lot compared to keeping games for that to happen. such a thing is not limited to just this one refund request.

No, you bought non-transferable licenses to be used only through the Steam platform.

lol it's literally your fault. this is how subscription models work. cancel before they renew. stop blaming steam for your mistakes.

If you're not using it, cancel it. It's a subscription, not pay as you go.

Although users feeling screwed over because in hindsight they don't like the terms they agreed to, ignored the policies governing and wanting things their own way at their convenience is akin to "water is wet."

Discovering water is wet doesn't garner a lot of sympathy.

Sorry, but it makes it ABUNDANTLY clear right up front more than once that the subscription will renew and it tells you the date it will renew too as well as the amounts. This is law, by the way.

The fact that you didn't realise this is your own fault, because you still AGREED to it.

And furthermore, once you realised just after you paid again, you still can't refund it because that's another thing that is made abundantly clear up front - if paid, you cannot refund.

The entire issue here is YOURS. I subbed a while ago and didn't like it and I knew this right from the outset, because I immediately made a diary entry when it was to renew each month.

Sorry but you can't blame others for your own inadequacies.

Yes I've forgotten to cancel recurring subscriptions before, and I blamed myself for not cancelling it in time.

No, since I don't think a subscription service is good for me. I don't play a lot of different or new games, so I prefer to pay for the game license entirely and play the game whenever I want.

If you signed up for a subscription, it is all on you to make the most out of it, and ensure to cancel it if you do not want it to renew. Why did you sign up for it and then not use it ?

Steam simply handles what you request it to - you signed up, so it is your responsibility... you can't really blame Steam or anyone else.

Had one time where I grabbed the humbebundle subscription to get crash+spyro for like $10 or $15, then made sure it was 1-month nonrecurring.
Then next month I get billed another $15, despite that not supposed to be happening, but it refunded without issue.

That is how subscriptions work even outside of steam, so I unsure how you were screwed over. It seems more like you were unaware of how subscriptions work... unfortunate.

At least Blizzard lets you refund the last month of your WoW sub if you haven't played much of it or it's a few days in and you forgot to cancel it

But the point is that's VERY much outside the norm if that is the case.

What Valve and EA are doing here is what is strictly within rules and regs in most of the western world and is the same as across all sorts of subscriptions from magazines to any other product.

You cant get refund after two weeks of inactivity on said product or +2 hours gameplay.
