I've played CS since Beta 4.1 and there have been plenty of cheaters before CS 1.6. It was dealt with by admins of dedicated servers which kept their servers clean from cheats by being called to the servers when someone was accused of cheating. I know this because I was admin on UK2 servers 150/200 CS servers) and I banned plenty of cheats in my day, more than most folks think they've seen. This is why you didn't notice cheaters as much because you were just enjoying your game and others were dealing with them in the background.
Not everyone is a cheater though and I've also been called to a server many many times only to find a player is just playing better than others who didn't like having their botty spanked.
Everything changed when we lost dedicated servers and went matchmaking, cheaters were no longer banned from a server right away by admins and instead get banned in waves so it does seem like cheats may not being dealt with but Vac does get them in the end if someone is cheating. Is it perfect? Nope but it's what we have and it isn't going to change, were not going back to dedicated servers and admins, sadly.
You are right, there was cheaters back then. But they got caught, and they got banned. Now there are the same amount of cheaters as legit players.. They dont get caught, and they dont get punished. Thats why CS is in the state it is in now. Just Facts.
There might be a cheater or two there as well, but it's much much much easier to fight them there: consoles are generally "locked down", so you can't just download and run whatever software you want. And, they can just ban the console, which is actually expensive to replace.
You might want to go and check out the VAC Discussion and tell those people who are complaining about being banned that they are idiots because cheats don't get caught or punished and it is all in their heads...
Facts are that cheats are banned all the time, they have been since day one of Steam. You saying they are not being banned is NOT fact but your opinion.
Cheating has become a big business, unlike in the past, so it will always be harder to keep up with the fight against latest trends in cheats. All Anti-Cheats have ever been, is playing catch-up. All Anti-Cheat makers have a hard time, especially when a game becomes super popular.
Personally, I see the trend of PvP, and competitive games in general, dying off (though not going to die). They are being replaced with co-op games, more then anything. Even PvPvE games have are out outpacing them.
Is it the death of FPS games? No as there are many other ways to play that genre.
Is PvP dying? No, but it is slowing and may enter hibernation at some point, until the trend circles back one day.
Yes but most of those people were clueless newbie scum.
Doesn't matter whether cheating or anything else. Many of us learned quickly that you are better off when you find servers and people that accommodate what you like. It's not rocket science.
If the game doesn't have that abaility, avoid it. Find one that does. There's plenty out there.
I recommend doing this.
Get whatever game you wish to use and play it at various times of the day. I always prefer to go for 10pm or later but there are other times if you can't muster that.
You can find times when things are more suited to playing with people either your age or with your same sensibilities. Then you also find the right servers as these two things often coalesce.
Servers which might either be private or might be well moderated.
It's down to YOU to do a bit of due diligence. It's no different to scoping out a game before you buy.
Reminds me how Red Dead Online turned out. Unlike GTAO, you couldn't play with just your friends in a private session; you instead had no choice but to be with the "tryhards" and hackers who try their best to make your experience about them and nothing else. GTAO has the same sort of people going around, AFAIK. The difference is, however, GTAO has private sessions, whilst RDO has been abandoned.
This here is a great example. Since Esport started to rise competitive online game's started to get boring and frustrating. Because every young kid who plays game's trying to get better at some game and dream of being a pro player. This kind of players more than %80 of the player base in allmost all competitive game's. There are some who's acualy skilled and there are some who cant get good no matter how hard they try.
When you acualy study a bit to understand what you are doing wrong you realize they are not even game anymore. You memorize every part of the map every good spot, you constantly comunicate with your team mates, you train your aim and game's mechanics only to rank up so you can do exac same things over and over again.
Actually, there are Consoles...
Then there is this:
As The One Who Stated Above??
There Is Always Offline Mode...
Again, The Thing With Consoles Is??
90% of my Games Are Disc Base,
& Majority Of Them Are Single Player,
& Don't Require Internet At All...
That doesn't mean I don't have Online Access,
But My Console Won't Have Problems Should
The Industry Attack The Console Generation Next, ~_~
That does not mean other People are in the same position,
but I don't know, I can only say that this wasn't something
that I had on my mind on the PS3 Generation as many
other People also felt, so it just happened out of the blue in my favor...
