Yeah, they haven't been cranking out games, but it's not like they've been sitting around and twiddling their thumbs.
Which they still have to implement into the game and they usually include community content via game-based events, that Valve most certainly does work on. Even then, it's not like the community made Mann vs Machine, Special Delivery and Mannpower. And there's upcoming Robot Destruction and PASS Time game modes coming. That's just for TF2. I don't know much about DOTA2's and CS:GO's updates, as I don't play them, but I'm sure that Valve is still heavily involved in making and refining content for those games, too.
I find it insane that the core concept of object constancy is still elusive for some.
And that only benefits them if there is value within the system of trading and marketable objects
And usually that doesn't happen if you put out a game then 'do nothing' with it for years.
If 'free to play' and 'being cheap' guaranteed your game being in the top 10, every game on the Apple App store would be making more money than god.
