Just state your problem and someone may able to help you, simple as that.

Why assume that the issue is with Steam in the first place?

If you start a download you don't directly connect with a Steam server, instead there will be many so called "hops" between yourself and the server and each of those can influence your download speed. For starters: the connection between your household and the ISP, then the connection between said ISP relay and the Internet, and from there on most likely even more 'hops'.

Also, keeping it public lowers the chance of getting "advice" from a scammer that's really just telling you things so they can hijack your account.

I have been posting my issues in this forum without any answer. That is why I try to simplify my questions to be able to get some attention.

It's been over a year now that I get this No Internet connection on any download I try on Steam. No issues on EPIC, EA or any other dowloads I am doing. I contacted Steam nnumerous time for them to only refer me to the same troubleshooting page over and over. Troubleshooting that I executed again and agin without any results.

My last action was to do a fresh install of Win11. Completely erased my main drive. My games are installed on a second drive. I re-installed Steam, linked to my game folder and I still have the dowload issue.

It is not a network/router problem. I disconnected my ethernet cable which was connected straight to the router for better speed. I then connected to my phone data, using the same ISP (Videotron). Still the same downloads issues. Connected to 2 other different ISP (Virgin and FIDO) using my daughter phone data, and the dowloads issues are still there.

Could the problem be with the Steam game folder itself? Should I erase eveything and re-dowload the games? This is one step I didn't do cause it would mean loosing a lot of game progress and data.

Any help or advice would be more then welcome as I am desperate to find a solution.

Just because you post dones't mean you're going to get an answer (or one you like).

We are keen to help so you should ALWAYS post your details here and not ask for help in PMs or such or you're likely to get scammed.

Anywho, If you can't download there's an easy way to try and whittle down what's causing it.

Boot your PC in SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING. Run Steam and try downloading a game.

If it works then it proves that some software on your PC is causing the blockage.

If it doesn't then it's likely something OUTSIDE of your PC, whether your router cabling, or further out.

Safe Mode with Networking gives the same result. As I said, I tried connecting outside my network with WiFi to my phone data with 3 different carriers and I still had that download problem. So it is not the router, cabling. It is buging me so much... There must be a simple explanation!

These are user-based forums, that means there are only other Steam users here.

i am not expert either but it could be firewall or steam is getting blocked by ransom protection control folder access
i recently had a issue where my save game was not getting written over and turning that option off worked

Either your ISP is blocking steam or your have a very bad networking card stack like the "Killer Network Card" which is notorious for its QOS stack being bascially unusable

If you have used safe mode with networking and it's still exactly the same, and you have used three ISPs then the issue is neither your computer or the software upon it or the ISPs most likely.

It's somewhere in between. That's how process of elimination works.

So it's likely your router, your cabling or something. Anything between the outside world and your computer.

Focus on that. Get another router or borrow one and set it up and try again. try different cables. EVERYTHING in there that you can change, change it. From the outside cabling to the point where it attaches to your computer - in other words the stuff in your house you have control over.

Also, try accessing something like http://portquiz.net:5677/ -- this will tell you whether something just blocks outgoing connections that aren't "web" stuff. I've used a random port number, mostly because I don't know how Steam downloads work.

Steam downloads are all over HTTPS

Install Steam on another computer and connect to your Internet connection.
If everything works fine, then the problem is in your computer. The easiest way is to reinstall the Steam client while saving the installed games (there is a corresponding guide somewhere).

He's already tried the safe mode with networking which usually shows up this issue.

He needs to get on checking a whole bunch of other things, especially that router he's using.

OMG, I am so thankful for all the good advices I am getting. Unfortunatly, a lot of those I already tried. This is not a router issue, I eliminated this trying to connect outside my network using my phone data as a hot spot. Did a fresh re-install of my entire system, erasing the main drive and installing Win11. Did a fresh install of Steam client BUT linking to my old games folder (that may be the problem...), installing on another computer is an option I need to try.

Crunchyfrog I like your troubleshooting! And I like everybody's input. When troubleshooting, every ideas counts, good or bad.

I can't beleive I am have such a hard time. I have over 200 games installed, think about it. Everything was going fine before!
