Hello

I know your password!

I infected you with a malware (RAT)/(Remote Administration Tool), some time ago and since then, I have been observing your actions. The malware gave me full access and control over your system, meaning, I can see everything on your screen, turn on your camera or microphone and you won't even notice about it, yes such things exist, you can Google it!
I have also access to all your contacts, I collected everything private from you, pictures, videos, everything!

And I MADE A VIDEO SHOWING BOTH YOU (through your webcam) AND THE VIDEO YOU WERE WATCHING (on the screen) WHILE SATISFYING YOURSELF!

I can send this video to all your contacts (email, social network) and publish all your private stuff everywhere!

You can prevent me from doing this!
To stop me, transfer exactly: 400$ with the current bitcoin (BTC) price to my bitcoin address.

If you don't know how to get bitcoin, Google - "How to buy Bitcoin", it's very simple for example with credit card. The wallet you can create here: blockchain

My bitcoin address is: bc1qn8lf2w0v24

Copy and paste my address - it's (CASE-sensitive).

You know this all isn't a joke, you got the proof above!
I think it's a very good price compared to the damage and hell it can bring into your life!

After receiving the payment, I will delete everything from you and you can life your live in peace like before. I give you 3 days to get the bitcoins!
Don't share this email with anyone, this should stay our little secret!

I don't have a webcam or a microphone or use any social media and i don't keep any of my contacts on my pc. So the joke is on them.

Clearly this is a scam that it says it was sent by quick books.

I found it really hilarious that they got a video of me from my non existent webcam and mic. I might reply back with show me the video to see what they send me. They even sent me this twice to the same e-mail address.

I got a similar message in my work email a few years ago.
Surely the others in the office would've noticed if I was doing anything of the sort. :bloodymary:

I'd check what the oldest one was, but my spam folder auto empties after 30 days. I wanna say spring of 2022 was when I first noticed one of them. I lolled because I don't even have a webcam on my desktop.

Edit: I remember I first noticed it because it had one of my old passwords as the subject line, the email said it haxx0red me but I'm sure it was from some throwaway account on a site I registered on that got brute forced...

1. Not new. Traces back at least to 2020.
2. Not Steam-related.

I don't have a webcam or a microphone so i know they was dumb. I really want to write back and ask for the video as proof but they might some sick crap like cp and they will know it's an active e-mail.
You should remove the email address from your post
This is like all of those "GoFundMe" scam posts people like to send around.

I've had a few of them telling them to feel free to use it and do what you are threatening to do.

These scammers mass spam them out hoping someone bites on the bait. If they had what they claim they'd at least include 1 screenshot to backup their threats. The fact they don't shows it's nothing more than an empty threat, they have jack****.

Guess what? Nothing comes from these empty threats.

I know but i wanted to post it so people can feel relieved that they know it's fake. But of course people don't see it till after they fall victim to the scam so it's sad really.

I got 2 of them with different errors so it made it even more funnier.

Yup, You could plaster warnings all over ever Forum page and the vast majority won't even pay attention. If they do look it'd be a quick glance see it's nothing fun ad ignore it. Kinda like how most of us have learnt to ignore all the adverts on internet connected devices.

i guess people do not read PSAs ... here or from legit sources.

https://consumer.ftc.gov/consumer-alerts/2020/04/scam-emails-demand-bitcoin-threaten-blackmail

i have like 10000 emails of those in my email accounts i use for throwaways. i use these to train my spam management for my actual accounts.

here is an excerpt of the only one that got through the filters in the past 3 years.
îf you are not famîlîar wîth thîș, î wîll explaîn.
Trojan Vîruș gîveș me full acceșș and control over a computer or other devîce.
Thîș meanș that î can șee everythîng on your șcreen, turn on the camera and mîcrophone, but you do not know about ît.

Î alșo have acceșș to all your contactș and all your correșpondence.
Why your antîvîruș dîd not detect malware?
Anșwer: My malware ușeș the drîver, î update îtș șîgnatureș every 4 hourș șo that your antîvîruș îș șîlent.
and the usual other stuff around it in the same manner.
most emails mention actual passwords i've used because they got the email address and the password from data breaches, it surprises me how many times i've used hunter2 ... guess i was lazy.

funny enough .. as this works as any other scam, the bitcoin address mentioned in my trespasser email has never had any transactions, probably the email rings too many alarm bells because of the funny characters.
the address in OP has had some traffic.

Yea from what i seen from researching it at least 7 people has paid out to the scammer.

And to be fair no one really goes to the ftc.gov website that often or at all.
