Surely the others in the office would've noticed if I was doing anything of the sort.
Edit: I remember I first noticed it because it had one of my old passwords as the subject line, the email said it haxx0red me but I'm sure it was from some throwaway account on a site I registered on that got brute forced...
2. Not Steam-related.
These scammers mass spam them out hoping someone bites on the bait. If they had what they claim they'd at least include 1 screenshot to backup their threats. The fact they don't shows it's nothing more than an empty threat, they have jack****.
Guess what? Nothing comes from these empty threats.
I know but i wanted to post it so people can feel relieved that they know it's fake. But of course people don't see it till after they fall victim to the scam so it's sad really.
I got 2 of them with different errors so it made it even more funnier.
Yup, You could plaster warnings all over ever Forum page and the vast majority won't even pay attention. If they do look it'd be a quick glance see it's nothing fun ad ignore it. Kinda like how most of us have learnt to ignore all the adverts on internet connected devices.

i have like 10000 emails of those in my email accounts i use for throwaways. i use these to train my spam management for my actual accounts.
here is an excerpt of the only one that got through the filters in the past 3 years.
and the usual other stuff around it in the same manner.
most emails mention actual passwords i've used because they got the email address and the password from data breaches, it surprises me how many times i've used hunter2 ... guess i was lazy.
funny enough .. as this works as any other scam, the bitcoin address mentioned in my trespasser email has never had any transactions, probably the email rings too many alarm bells because of the funny characters.
the address in OP has had some traffic.
And to be fair no one really goes to the ftc.gov website that often or at all.
