Wishlist Problem
Lord of the Rings: War in the North has been added to my wishlist and I did not add it. The game is not on Steam anymore but I would like to know how someone else is able to put a game on my wishlist. I have not given anyone any permissions of any sort. If someone can add something to my wishlist then what else can they do to my account?

Anything.

You are sure you did not add it years ago, before it was removed form the store? (It still has a Store page, but I can't tell you is it has an "Add to WIsh List" button or not, since I own the game, and that button disappears from your Store page when you own the game.)
Most games that got removed from the store would end up hidden on people's wishlists- but they would still be counted towards the full number of games on the Wish List. And people had to follow a guide and jump through hoops to get these hidden games removed from their Wish List.

It could be that Valve finally decided to unhide those games so people could remove them easily instead of having to follow a convoluted process to do so.

Either way you should make sure to secure your account, in case it is shadow-hijacked right now.

Copy-pasta of the usual instructions posted a few hundred times on these forums:

Do not trade until your account is secured.

Take the following steps to secure your account:

1. Scan for malware. https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Check that the email and phone number on the Steam account are still yours.
3. Deauthorize all other devices. https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
4. Change passwords from a clean computer.
5. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App. https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
6. Revoke the API key (there should be no key). https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey

Thank you for this.
First of all I know I did not put the game on my wishlist a long time ago. I never heard of this one before now. I don't recall any of the games I have ever had on my wishlist being hidden but I guess that does make sense but like I said before I did not put it on my wishlist now or before.
Well thank you again for this info and I will look into this :)

Chances are, when people hijack your account, they are not going to add a stupid game to your wishlist. They generally have more nefarious plans.

You having added it, intentionally or not, is still the most likely scenario.

wishlist displays the date when it was added.

The game does have a wishlist button if you don't own it. If it shows up in the wishhlist it should have an added to wishlist date in the bottom right corner by the remove link.

well i have deleted it off my wishlist now. ty all
I randomly had it added to my wishlist as well saying I had wishlisted it back in 2019, so I'm guessing Steam has had a bit of a derp out moment.

I just had "Hopping up for it" added to my wishlist (said I added it in 2018), that game has definitely not been sitting in my wishlist for the last 5 years.

This happens to me, too. Some month ago and today I had a game on my wishlist which I never would like to play.

This behaviour should be checked.

Currently, when opening my wishlist on the client, it defaults to "Wishlist Notification Games" and I have to manually revert it back to normal (ordered by price, for me). I can't find a way to turn this off, anyone else having a problem like this?

That only happens to those who among all the possible threads they could necro pick the most irrelevant one with just a few matching keywords.
