what of my physical copy of L4D2?
it says it only requires windows xp... there's even a CD key.

shouldn't this physical object I purchased remain functional as purchased?

Talk to your local consumer agencies or a lawyer if you want an actual answer to that.

Your retail box also mentions that a Steam account and an online connection is required.

but I do have a steam account and an internet connection?

I don't even think you have to install steam to make a steam account?

It's bad faith though. You know exactly what the answer is, and Valve is not going to retroactively support a 22 year old operating system that's been end of support for 9 years.

if you ask me the whole thing is in bad faith...

the steam store even still says that L4D2 only requires windows xp and I'm pretty sure you can make a steam account and purchase things within a browser... so what? they going to have people buying their products and then force them to install steam and be like "oops! the client needs windows 10!"?

kinda in bad faith if you ask me.

Hardly. If you think a wrong has been done, posting about it in a forum clearly isn't going to correct that wrong. Valve is on track for dumping Windows 7 on January 1st. No one here is going to change that course, no matter how many threads are made. They dumped 98. They dumped 2000. They dumped Me, XP, and Vista.

So you can either keep shouting into the wind, or you can actually do something about it. I already have money on which one it's going to be. Care to prove me wrong?
