its the game makes that set the prices...
These countries are: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
partners are recommended to set a discounted price for those but what they ultimately do is up to them.
also just checked what Valve recommends for SASIA - USD ... about 60% of the USD price, ergo, 40% discount and + sales ... that should make things affordable.
if the AAAs dont follow the recommendations ... well, tell them that with your wallet by not buying their crap.
Of course not. Game development is an expensive process and companies do take risks investing a lot of money in games. But then again, selling single player games for lowered prices should be better than not selling at all. Even the price level of Argentina would be perfectly tolerable.
Yes I know the companies set the price. But opening a region for Bangladesh, that's a decision from the Valve Corp. If they don't separate Bangladesh from the rest of the world as payment region, the Game publishers can't price them accordingly.
And no, I don't think it was a problem with local government or its law.
S.Asia region does NOT have prices at anywhere close to 60% of US price. Most cases I've encountered were 5-10% price reduction at best.
I should remind you that Bangladesh have GDP (PPP) 1/3rd of Argentina. But still, price equivalent of Argentina would be MORE than good enough. I'm speaking too much for Bangladesh but the whole South Asia is in more or less similar economic condition.
If companies do hope to reduce video game piracy, increasing in availability and better affordability is the way.
Dark times for People who are on a budget. We can not even show support here for those unfortunate ones without being shredded to bits, ridiculed, piranhaed.
